This 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible has 49k miles shown and was purchased new by the current owner on March 3rd, 1971, from Norm Anderson Volkswagen in San Jose, California. It is finished in blue with a black convertible soft top over black upholstery and is powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 15? steel wheels, MacPherson strut front suspension, drum brakes, Hitron AM/FM/cassette radio, dual side-view mirrors, dual “pea shooter” exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This 1302 Super Beetle convertible is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment manufacturer’s literature, historical registration cards, service records, and a California “pink slip” in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Marina Blue (L54D), though it has been repainted and rear quarter panel repairs have been performed. Exterior details include a black convertible soft top and boot, dual side-view mirrors, rear fender stone guards, dual “pea shooter” exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Steel 15? wheels wear chrome VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Firestone F-560 tires. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.

The front bucket seats and the rear bench are trimmed in black basketweave pattern upholstery and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard pad and door panels. Salt-and-pepper carpets are protected by a black rubber floor mat, and additional interior elements include front shoulder belts, rear lap belts, a lockable glove compartment, and a Hitron AM/FM/cassette radio.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a polished horn ring with a Wolfsburg crest center cap and frames a 90-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 49k miles.

The air-cooled 1.6L (AE) flat-four is fed by a single downdraft carburetor topped with an oil bath air cleaner. An oil change was performed and the fuel filter and lines were replaced in September 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
