Vehicle Overview
Arriving in 70’s style to the Monterey showroom is this 1973 Triumph TR6.
Painted in the cool color-scheme of Mimosa Yellow over Black vinyl
interior, this British spark-plug of a sports car is looking for a new caretaker.
British Leyland Motors Inc. out of Leonia, New Jersey was the original selling dealer for this car in 1973. It was first registered on December 12, 1973. However, the car soon was on its way to the West Coast, showing on the 1,000 mile service coupon with Modesto Motors in Modesto, California, February 8, 1973. The car continued to have regular services at Modesto Motors until May 6, 1974, the last service stamp with 18,706 miles.
Records have it going back from new, but the majority of its ownership history picks up in 1981. Sold from Livermore Auto Exchange in Livermore, California to Flagstaff, Arizona.
Invoices indicate that the restoration work was slowly performed from 1996-2004. Countless invoices from parts suppliers Moss Motors, Victoria British LTD, The Roadster Factory and others. A repair order from the fall of 2004 shows that the engine was rebuilt with all new parts by Pinnacle Automotive Service, LLC, totaling approx. $5,500.00.
The current owner acquired the car in 2018 from an Arizona dealer and has enjoyed it since. The most recent service documents show a good amount of work done by British & European, Inc. in Sunnyvale, California. This work includes: a repaired key tumbler, muffler replacement, brake a clutch flush, valves adjusted, coolant flush, drive belts replaced, repacked front wheel bearings, lubricated front end, trans and diff fluid replaced.
Interior is in like-new condition with the seats, carpet, dash, gauges, top, tonneau cover and steering wheel presenting near perfect. Paintwork leaves a little to be desired with stone ships all across the front lower nose of the car, and touchups on every body panel. There are some burnt edges from a rotary buffer and a faint sign of pinstriping can still be seen on both decklids.
Chrome and brightwork throughout the car are also very nice. Engine bay is very tidy and correct. All wiring, hoses and belts look fresh and there is no trace of oil leaks on our pan, even after the car was driven at length and at operating temperature. Battery box is in excellent shape.
The tires are brand new from Coker tire, the chrome trim beauty rings and rims are in excellent condition. A perfect spare tire is also located in the trunk.
No issues during the test drive of the car, as this TR6 obeyed every command and operated as expected.
