This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was reportedly acquired out of Columbia by the previous owner, who commissioned a subsequent refurbishment that included a repaint in green, an interior overhaul using brown upholstery, and rebuilds of the carburetor and rear differential. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six mated to a dual-range transfer case and a four-speed manual transmission, and features include a tan canvas soft top with roll-up sides, 16” Method wheels, front disc brakes, locking front hubs, Gabriel rear coilovers, and inward-facing rear bench seats. This FJ40 is being offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Monterey, California, with a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC.
The truck was reportedly repainted its current shade of green, and a tan canvas soft top with roll-up sides was added during the refurbishment. Exterior details include a silver-finished front bumper, dual side mirrors, and a fold-down windshield. The turn signals, brake lights, and various windows are said to have been replaced. The seller notes uneven door fitment and states that the key locks are difficult to operate.
The 16” Method beadlock-style wheels are mounted with 265/75 Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. A matching spare is affixed to the swing-out rear tire carrier. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the truck features locking front hubs and Gabriel coilover shocks out back. The front wheel bearings have been replaced, per the seller.
The cabin houses a split front bench and inward-facing rear benches that have been reupholstered in brown upholstery, which also extends to the door panels. Black rubber lines the floors, and no radio is installed in the dashboard.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 100 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six sends power to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The carburetor and rear differential are said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment.
