Vehicle Overview
Ended on Bring a Trailer Auctions : 1971 Porsche 914 This 1971 Porsche 914 was initially delivered to Dave Strong Porsche in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was acquired by the current owner in August 2022. Work performed since 2019 has included modifying the flat-four to displace 1.8 liters, rebuilding the five-speed manual transaxle, and replacing the black vinyl upholstery as well as components for the braking, suspension, and steering systems. The car is finished in green and equipped with 15? wheels, a removable Targa top, and a Bluetooth-enabled stereo. This 914 is now offered in California on dealer consignment with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Montana title. The car left the factory finished in Willow Green, and the selling dealer notes evidence of prior paintwork. Pop-up headlights, a black removable Targa top, and dual side mirrors are fitted. Steel 15? wheels wear bright covers and are mounted with 195/65 Bridgestone Potenza tires. Turbo-specification tie rods were fitted and the steering gear was replaced in 2019. The rear calipers and parking brake cables were installed in 2021, while the rear springs were replaced in preparation for the sale. Replacement black vinyl upholstery and seat foam were installed on the bucket seats in 2020. The door panels were reupholstered and the seat belts were replaced at that time. The dashboard was replaced in 2019, and the center console was replaced the following year. A Rennline short shifter and a Bluetooth-enabled stereo are also equipped. The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a fuel level gauge. Auxiliary readouts are mounted in the center console. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. The ignition switch, turn signal assembly, and steering column were replaced in 2019, and the accelerator cable and speedometer cable were replaced in 2020. The 1.7-liter flat-four was overhauled in 2020 by Autoworks Colorado in Littleton, Colorado, to displace 1.8 liters. Work included installing a 96mm piston and cylinder kit and replacing the timing gear, camshaft, pushrod tubes and seals, and gaskets. The battery, alternator, voltage regulator, and drive belt were replaced in 2022, while the engine mounts were replaced in preparation for the sale. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, which was rebuilt in April 2020. Work included replacing the clutch kit, first-gear teeth, synchro rings, and gaskets. The flywheel and shift rod bushing were replaced in August 2020, while the transmission mounts were replaced in preparation for the sale. The window sticker shows initial delivery to Dave Strong Porsche in Salt Lake City, Utah, along with factory equipment and a suggested retail price of $3,766. Photos showing stages of the engine work, service records, and manufacturer’s literature will also accompany the car.
