This 1963 Porsche 356B cabriolet is finished in red with a black soft top over black leather and is powered by a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a black tonneau cover, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, ventilated chrome wheels with polished hubcaps, and four-wheel disc brakes. This 356B cabriolet was acquired by the current owner a decade ago and is now being offered on consignment by the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, a radio user guide, a Porsche Classic Technical certificate, and a clean California title.
Factory-finished in Champagne Yellow, the exterior was repainted its current shade of red some time ago. Features include a black convertible top and matching tonneau cover, gold “Porsche C” badging beneath the rear deck lid, a Reutter badge affixed to the passenger-side fender, fog lamps, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the bumperettes. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below, and the driver-side front fog lamp is inoperable.
The 15” ventilated steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with colored Porsche crests and are mounted with Yokohama AV1-60i tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and a full-size spare is mounted in the front storage area.
The cabin was originally trimmed in green and has since been reupholstered in black leather with a matching dashboard top, door panels, and salt-and-pepper squareweave carpets lined with Coco floor mats. Amenities include a height-adjustable rear-view mirror, an analog clock, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel with a Porsche crest horn button fronts a body-colored dashboard housing VDO instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows just over 34k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
An air-cooled 1.6-liter 616/12 flat-four (*701440*) from a 1962 1600S was installed some time ago and drives the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transaxle.
Additional underside photos, along with images of the engine and transaxle numbers, are provided in the gallery.
The included Porsche Classic Technical certificate provides results from a recent inspection and indicates the factory colors and optional equipment.
