Presented by Mohr Imports Monterey, member of Bring a Trailer's Local Partners Program.
This 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix is said to have been purchased new by a General Motors employee from Jenny Pontiac of Janesville, Wisconsin and remained in their family until 2015. The car is finished in Iris Mist over Plum vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 389ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, power-assisted steering and drum brakes, 14? eight-lug aluminum wheels, a black vinyl roof, front bucket seats, a center console, and a push-button AM/FM radio with Bluetooth compatibility. This Grand Prix Sports Coupe was purchased by the current owner in 2022, and it is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports’ Monterey Car Week Collection with spare parts, an owner’s manual, a reproduction window sticker, PHS documentation, service records, a set of California black plates, a car cover, and a clean California title.
The car was delivered from the factory in Iris Mist (P), a color offered exclusively on Pontiacs exclusively for the 1965 model year. Features include chrome bumpers and trim, stacked quad headlights, dual side mirrors, a black vinyl roof, rear fender skirts, taillight louvers, reverse lamps, and polished exhaust finishers.
Aluminum eight-lug wheels wear Pontiac Motor Division center caps, and they are mounted with 215/T5R14 Firestone whitewall radial tires. A matching spare wheel with a Uniroyal tire is stowed under a cover in the trunk. The car was equipped from the factory with Wonder Touch power-assisted steering and power four-wheel drum brakes. Three painted steel wheels, five chrome Pontiac Motor Division hubcaps, and four spare finned brake drums are included in the sale.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Plum vinyl (287) along with a color-coordinated headliner, door panels and carpets. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and center console, and additional equipment includes a heater, a push-button AM/FM radio that has been upgraded with Bluetooth compatibility, a center console with cupholders, front lap belts, and a fold-down rear armrest. Corrosion in the trunk is shown in the gallery.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer. A clock and gauges for fuel level and battery charge are located in the center of the dash, while a manifold vacuum gauge is mounted on the center console. Additional readouts for water temperature and oil pressure are installed below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles, approximately 4k of which were added by the current owner.
The 389ci V8 features five main bearings and a four-barrel carburetor, and it was factory rated at 325 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Turbo Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.
