Vehicle Overview
Just driven into the Monterey Showroom is this 1953 MG TD Mark II from a prominent Pebble Beach collection.
Chassis No. TDC 22348
Engine No. XPAG 22435
Acquired by the selling estate on November 4, 1977 this car soon was completely disassembled for a full concours restoration soon after. The owner, was a very well known and respected Concours judge on the West Coast, most notably at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, for decades.
During the body off restoration, no stone was unturned to make this a perfectly original example, which can still be seen today.
Documentation of the car’s restoration process – parts purchased, work orders action, coachwork plated etc. – every element under the current ownership was documented. Not a bolt was put on the car, or oil topped off that wasn’t noted in the extensive folder. All notes indicated that the car was finished in late 2015 and has not been driven hardly at all since.
Stored in a private barn in Pebble Beach, paint and body are still in excellent condition. There is some small pitting in areas of the chrome, but otherwise vibrant and like-new.
All operating functions work, such as the gauges, driving lights, headlights, horn, brake lights and turn signals. The car benefited from a recent overall inspection and service at Classic Coachworks in Monterey, California – August of 2019.
Details of the service included:
· Flushing of the gas tank and lines
· Brake flush, bleed & refill
· Coolant system flush & refill
· Carburetor rebuild
· Fuel pump replacement
· + More
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better Mark II ‘barn find’ example. Virtually a restored-then-parked car that after a days work of service is ready to enjoy on the road.
All inspections welcome. We ship worldwide.
