Vehicle Overview
This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in white over Palomino leather and is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-color removable hardtop, a brown soft top, 15? wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo, and an alarm system. The current owner acquired the car in June 2010, and work in preparation for the sale included replacing the tires, engine control module, fuel injectors, transmission mounts, and spark plugs. This R107 is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car was finished from the factory in Arctic White (147) and has been repainted. Equipment includes a color-matched removable hardtop, a brown convertible soft top, front fog lights, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. The power antenna does not work, and the seller reports that the paint meter readings show a potential respray on the rear passenger quarter panel. Images of paint meter readings are included in the gallery below.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in Palomino leather along with a black upper dashboard and burled wood trim. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo, an alarm system, and power windows and locks. The handbrake release knob is broken.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 181k miles but does not work, and total mileage is unknown.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Work in April 2022 included a coolant flush, servicing the induction system, and replacing an oxygen sensor as well as the distributor cap, fan shroud, engine control module, fuel-pressure regulator, fuel filter, EGR valve, spark plugs and wires, and fuel injectors. The car is said to be cold-blooded at idle.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission mount was replaced in April 2022, and the selling dealer notes hard shifts into second gear.
