Vehicle Overview
This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL was acquired by the current owner over 20 years ago and is finished in Moss Green Metallic over Cognac leather. Power is supplied by a 2.8-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes a dark green soft top, a color-matched removable hardtop, 14? wheels with body-color covers, four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. Recent maintenance included an oil change. This W113 is now offered on dealer consignment with a tool kit, a storage stand for the hardtop, factory literature, blue California plates, and a clean California title.
Originally finished in Moss Green Metallic, the exterior has been refinished and features a color-matched removable hardtop, a dark green soft top, and chrome bumpers with overriders. A storage stand for the hardtop is included in the sale, and a dent is present on the front bumper and on the C-pillar of the hardtop.
14” steel wheels wear single-piece body-color covers and 195/75 Michelin Rainforce MX4 whitewall tires. A covered spare tire is fitted in the trunk, and corrosion is noted on the trunk floor. The tie rod assemblies and center drag link were recently replaced.
The cabin is upholstered in Cognac leather with matching carpets and a wood-trimmed console box. Amenities include an analog clock, an AM/FM radio, a rear storage area, and an air-conditioning system fitted underneath the dash. The radio, the heater, and the defroster do not work.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a green dash that houses VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer, as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 67k miles. The center of the steering wheel is cracked.
The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and produced 168 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent maintenance included a fluid service.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The selling dealer recently repaired a hole in the muffler.
