This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL has been refinished in black over red MB-Tex and is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a removable hardtop, power steering, 14? steel wheels with painted covers, Euro headlights, a Becker AM/FM radio, and a heater. The current owner acquired the car in 2016 and the engine was rebuilt in December 2020. Service in August 2021 included replacing the fuel tank and fuel tank sending unit, while a fuel system flush was performed in May 2024. This W113 SL is now offered as part of Mohr Imports’ Monterey Car Week Collection in California on dealer consignment at no reserve with a clean Florida title.
The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example came finished from the factory in white and was repainted black over two decades ago. Features include a black soft top, a removable hardtop, dual side mirrors, and European-specification headlights.
The 14? steel wheels feature covers with painted centers and are mounted with Nexen tires measuring 195/70. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Bilstein shocks are fitted.
The cabin houses bucket seats that have been reupholstered in red MB-Tex that extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include an analog clock, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, a floor-mounted gear shifter, and a heater.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six was rebuilt in December 2020 by Eurotech of Sante Fe, New Mexico. The work also involved a rebuild of the fuel injection pump and more as detailed in records provided in the image gallery below. The fuel tank and fuel tank sending unit were replaced in August 2021, at which time a valve adjustment was performed. Work performed in May 2024 is detailed in records shown in the image gallery and involved a fuel system flush, a valve adjustment, and replacing the distributor. The oil was also changed.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
All inspections welcome. We ship world wide.
