This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was acquired by the current owner in 2021 and subsequently refurbished by Kurt Tanner Motorcars of Santa Ana, California. The car is finished in Metallic Golden Beige over red leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes 15? wire wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, a black soft top, driving lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, wood veneer interior trim, a cabin heater, and a Moto-Lita steering wheel. Work carried out in April 2022 consisted of installing a new seatbelt and transmission tunnel trim. This 3000 BJ8 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports Monterey Collection Sale with refurbishment photos, recent service records, and a clean California title.
The body was disassembled and repaired before being refinished in the current shade of Metallic Golden Beige during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a black soft top with a matching top boot, driving lights, a hood scoop, vent windows, dual side-view mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome-finished 15? 60-spoke wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed in June 2021, while a matching spare is located in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums, and the brake system and suspension were overhauled during the refurbishment.
The cabin features front and rear seats that have been re-trimmed in red leather with white piping. The dashboard, door panels, and center tunnel have also been reupholstered, and additional equipment includes red carpeting, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a heater, an ashtray, and a locking glove box. Work carried out in April 2022 consisted of installing a new seatbelt and transmission tunnel trim.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,600-rpm redline, and supplementary gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, and total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was overhauled as part of the refurbishment and is equipped with dual SU carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
Photos taken during various stages of refurbishment work can be viewed in the gallery.
The owner has applied for a corrected title, which is currently in transit.
