1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite


This 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite is said to have been refurbished during previous ownership in Connecticut and was acquired by the current owner in 2010. The car is finished in Iris Blue over dark blue vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 948cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a removable black soft top with sliding side curtains, 13? steel wheels, dual SU carburetors, a dark blue split tonneau cover, and a heater. Service carried out in May 2022 included an oil change and a brake fluid flush. This Bugeye Sprite is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with reproduction manufacturer’s literature, service records, refurbishment photos, and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.

The car was repainted Iris Blue in 1999, according to the selling dealer. Features include a removable black soft top with sliding side curtains, a dark blue split tonneau cover, a chrome front bumper with overriders, chrome rear bumperettes, and a single exhaust outlet.

Silver 13? steel wheels wear chrome Austin Healy-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 145-series Michelin XZX tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes, and service carried out in May 2022 included a brake fluid flush.

The cockpit features bucket seats trimmed in dark blue vinyl with blue piping, which are complimented by a matching dashboard and carpets. Amenities include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a Smiths heater, lap belts, and a passenger-side grab handle.

The two-spoke steering wheels front Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 948cc inline-four features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 48 horsepower and 52 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in May 2022.
