This 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce was produced in December 1970, and the car is said to have spent time in California and Washington before the current owner acquired it in Oregon in 2019. Subsequent work included repairing the floors, partially repainting the blue exterior, fitting replacement seats and side panels with red upholstery along with a stainless-steel exhaust system, a Nardi steering wheel, and refinished 14? Cromodora wheels, and replacing the black soft top, water pump, tires, and front brake components. Power comes from a 1,750cc twin-cam inline-four equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This Alfa Spider is now offered on dealer consignment in California with an Alfa Romeo Classiche Certificato Di Origine, manufacturer’s literature, receipts, refurbishment photos, spare and removed parts, and a clean Oregon title.
The Spider was styled by Pininfarina, and this example was delivered new in blue and repainted in 2009. Portions of the exterior were refinished under current ownership by Collision Kings of Redwood City, California, at which time repairs were made to the right-side quarter panel, trunk pan, and floor pan. A black soft top sourced from Classic Alfa was installed in 2021, and the removable black factory hardtop shown below will also accompany the car.
Refinished 14? Cromodora alloy wheels were sourced by the current owner and fitted with 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato tires in 2021. The suspension was overhauled in the early 2000s, and the front brake components were replaced under current ownership.
The car was ordered with Amaranto Skai upholstery from the factory, and following the current owner’s acquisition replacement seats and side panels were fitted along with a Nardi steering wheel. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is located ahead of the shifter. The door-panel trim was affixed with glue in 2014, at which time the heater-control badge was installed and the inner carpet insulation was replaced. The seller describes “squeaks and rattles” when driving.
Jaeger instrumentation includes an 8k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer augmented by a trio of auxiliary gauges in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over and now shows approximately 22k miles. The current owner has added approximately 500 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The twin-cam 1,750cc inline-four is equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection. Under current ownership the water pump has been replaced and a stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, and the clutch assembly was replaced in 2012. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
The Alfa Romeo Classiche Certificato Di Origine details the color scheme and indicates a production date of December 12, 1970, along with delivery to Newark, New Jersey.
Refurbishment photos are provided toward the end of the gallery along with included removed components and a number of receipts.
